the new |museum| walk

Hi, I went on a walk yesterday. I told my roommate i’d be back in about an hour, leaving at 2:30. I was planning on walking up to 14th st, circling around in the west village and then coming back by way of a quick walk through soho.

Well the west village was great. I liked how some of the streets would have a bend in them. Like the ideal town commissioned by that pope, it really did make it look a lot smaller and more intimate. I spent about an hour there admiring all the houses and greenery. there were lots of annoying shopping people there. And i passed by two lines (one for magnolia bakery and one for a clothing store in which i SWEAR i saw devendra banhart or a convincing look alike).

So then i went down Hudson, hoping to connect to Bleeker or Broome. It was interesting to see how it changed, The deserted office buildings started appearing along with imitation old school buildings.

And then, I went too far. lol. I ended up in Tribeca and had to use a crosswalk to get me away from whatever highway (i passed the Holland too!) all the cars were going to. It was sorta cool cause i actually passed this one building under construction that i can see from my window.

So then i went through China town and OMG masses and masses and masses of people. So then i said “forget this!” and headed east off of broadway (o btw, the soho american apparel is now open). It was pretty quaint, passed a lot of galleries. but then, i had to go to the bathroom. So where could i possibly go? The new museum! i decided since i was so close anyways. Got there at 4, it closes at 6 and what the heck i got a ticket and spent an hour there.

The skyroom terrace was open today and it was amazing. was dizzy at first but definitely have to go back and take pictures. And it was cool cause west off of the bowery, they had done the “Museum as Hub” thing where they covered the buildings with blue stripes. so cool.

And on this one floor, the security guard was going to yell at this one man to stop taking pictures, but couldn’t get his attention so i shrugged a “what can ya do” at him and we talked briefly about why museums should allow pictures.

I left around 5 and then took a detour through LES and got back around 6:40.
